A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §6-7-2b, relating to exception to limitation on salaries of certain appointive state officers.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
    That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §6-7-2b, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 7. COMPENSATION AND ALLOWANCES.
§6-7-2b. Authority to receive a certain salary.
     Commencing July 1, 2013, a state employee who has been in his or her position at least two years prior to being appointed to the position of a state officer as set out in section two-a of this article, who receives a salary in his or her position that is higher than the state officer salary, is hereby authorized to continue receiving the higher salary while serving as the appointive state officer.



     NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to permit state employees to be appointed to and serve in certain state offices for which salaries are set by statute, without taking a reduction in pay.
